The Holidays are Over

And the Holidays are over! It's crazy how quickly it all went by, but I guess that's what happens with things that you look forward to.
This Christmas I went to Leppävaara with Albert to see my mum, dad and sisters. Even though Christmas isn't as exciting present-wise anymore like when I was little, it is still one of my favorite holidays. This year I finally had a White Christmas- after many years of tropical ones, and a disappointing cold and rainy one last year. It was so beautiful, I think it snowed just about all day on Christmas eve, and day- a real winter wonderland! Christmas eve day Albert and I made a gingerbread house, and then in the evening went to the sauna, had a lovely family dinner and then opened presents. I don't know if I was just emotional in general or what- but when my sister showed me the present she got me I started crying! It was a 1000 piece puzzle of our dog Bruno (who passed away over two years ago now). Albert also went completely over-board and got me so many presents! Including a whole bunch of fabrics and stuffing so I can make more plushies (like the ilo and milo I made). On Christmas day Albert and I ventured out into the crazy snow and went to watch the Hobbit at the cinema, which was such a great movie.
And then before we knew it, it was New Year's Eve! At the beginning of the night it felt like it wasn't going to be very spectacular- it seemed everyone had their own scattered plans so we weren't sure if we would really see anyone we knew. We started the night off at our place, making some strawberry and watermelon daquiris with my new blender (another gift from Albert), and then we headed over to our friend Rosanna's place. Lots of people ended up coming there, and we spent midnight up on her buildings roof with a gorgeous view of the whole city! It was so amazing seeing all the fire works going off around the city and lake from such a great vantage point. It turned out to be a really great night! :)
Regrettably I think I failed most of my new year's resolutions from last year, so I'm a little hesitant to make any new ones. To sum up: I did not read 10 books, and instead of becoming more decisive, I have decided to embrace my indecisiveness!
I do have a few small resolutions in mind for this year that I think (at least for now) I'll keep to myself. :)

Our gingerbread house!... we are not professionals.

We also had some sparklers!

  1. You're more likely to stick to your goals if you share them with others ;)

  2. That's true, but sometimes if I'm doing well with a resolution or goal, the second I share it, it all goes downhill. :/

But with that said I can say I plan to read 5 novels this year! Last year I set my goal as 10- and failed miserably. But hopefully I can manage 5 :)
